The first official trailer for the highly anticipated horror movie, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It has been released by Warner Bros. The recently released trailer of the horror franchise features the return of Patrick Wilson and Vera Famiga. The trailer opens with a sickly-looking young man who stops on his track due to a patrol officer’s enquiry about his unusual state. With a shocked look on this young man’s face, like he is just coming back to his senses and a horrifying look on the officer’s face at the sight of the splattered blood on his body, “I think I hurt someone”, he says. The next event reveals the paranormal couple, Ed and Lorraine Warren, back to a case which seems to have drawn national interest. The terrifying scenes that follow show that it is a case involving an Arne Johnson who pleads “not guilty” for a murder. The series of events and shots that follow is like a precedent to inform viewers that the couples will have a hard time expelling the demon(s) in play as it also involves cops who are only interested in facts and reality.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It reveals a chilling story of terror, murder and an unknown evil that shocked even experienced real-life paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren. Based on one of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them beyond anything they’d ever seen before, to mark the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defense. The upcoming conjuring movie will mark the third part in the Warren universe, following the two previous installments of The Conjuring movies.
The movie is based on the real-life murder case involving Arne Johnson, the first person in history to blame a demon as his reason for manslaughter. The horror movie was slated to be released on September 11, 2020 before Warner Bros made the decision to delay it till 2021 due to COVID-19. The Nun and the Annabelle movies serve as backstories to some of Ed and Lorraine Warren’s most frightening cases. The movie is directed by Michael Chaves(The Curse of La Llorona) and produced by Peter Safran (The Nun) and James Wan (The Conjuring). Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring) and Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring) reprise their role as the paranormal activities investigator alongside John Noble (The Lord of the Rings), Ruairi O’Connor (Teen Spirit), Sarah Catherine Hook, Julian Hilliard (WandaVision) and Charlene Amoia (Birds of Prey: Harley Quinn) and Paul Wilson.
The film will make a theatrical debut on June 4, 2021, and will also be released on HBO Max on the same day.
With Ed and Lorraine Warren solving a never-before-seen demonic activity, it is evident in the plot synopsis that this is more than enough to make fans of the franchise salivate before the premiere date.
