Don’t you dare! Don’t you dare complain about Sex/Life, the new Netflix series that is exactly about what it hints. So why y’all acting surprised. And for those not in the know, Sex/Life isn’t a recommendation from me. On that note, welcome back to WKMUp. We are getting into the thick of summer action. What is your favourite movie so far? Based on our reviews, A Quiet Place Part 2 has stood out so far; based on word of mouth, none has stood out so far, but there’s still room for that one movie to take over this summer. Or are the competing streaming services making it hard for one movie to come out on top? We don’t even have a summer song this year. What’s going on, guys? 

I guess it is #OutdoorSummer this year, as restrictions have been relaxed in so many countries and we are all getting the chance to enjoy the sun before a third wave begins, maybe? Meh! Let’s stay home in July to binge the Fear Street trilogy, and head out a few times to watch, for the first time in a very long time, a Marvel movie, serving us Scarlett Johansson and David Harbour in Black Widow. Another potential blockbuster is Jungle Book, starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, who recently starred in A Quiet Place Part 2. Highly anticipated in Nollywood is Kayode Kasum and Dare Olaitan’s Dwindle, co-written by Olaitan, Isaac Ayodeji and Taiwo Egunjobi. While the best of the best might not be premiering in July, we can still enjoy TV shows like Never Have I Ever, Ted Lasso, Outer Banks, while saying goodbye to Atypical.

News That We Couldn’t Cover

While still struggling with this news thing, here are some you might have missed.

• A project that has completed production is a David O. Russell (American Hustle, Silver Linings Playbook) movie, starring Taylor Swift, Margot Robbie, Christian Bale, John David Washington, Rami Malek, Anya Taylor-Joy and Robert De Niro. Damn— that better be the title.
• Nigerian government bans twitter. What else will they come for? Movies?
• Donnie Yen is cast in the next John Wick movie as a former colleague from Wick’s past life. Also joining the next installment is Hiroyuki Sanada who recently starred in Mortal Kombat.
• Netflix launches an online merchandise site, selling exclusive merchandise and products inspired by popular original shows and movies. A Witcher bracelet or chain? A Stranger Things T-shirt? A jewelry from your favourite anime? You might just find it there.
• Ethan Hawke joins Knives Out 2 cast and filming has started in Greece.
