According to a video posted by BellaNaija, the Nigerian release details of Iwaju have been unveiled. The highly anticipated series produced by Disney and Kugali Media is coming to Disney Channel on DStv (Channel 303) from April 2024.

The following airing dates have been announced for Iwaju in Nigeria:

  • April 22-26 on weekdays
  • A special marathon on April 27
  • Repeat broadcasts on April 29-May 4
  • Marathon broadcast on May 5
  • A special street on Africa Day on May 25.

Iwájú is a coming-of-age animated series set in a futuristic Lagos that follows Tola, a young girl from a wealthy island, and her best friend, Kole, a self-taught tech expert, as they discover the secrets and dangers hidden in their different worlds.

Since the announcement of the 6-episode series, viewers in Nigeria have been wondering where they can watch the series, as Disney+ is not yet available in the country. Some have even criticized Disney for creating a show set in Lagos when viewers in Lagos won’t be able to watch it, a similar issue that arose when Kizazi Moto premiered last year on Disney+ before an eventual broadcast on Disney Channel.

African fans outside the North African region and South Africa, where DStv is available, can also tune in to catch the series on these broadcast days.

Iwaju is directed by Olufikayo Ziki Adeola and produced by Christina Chen, with Adeola and Halima Hudson as screenwriters and music by Re Olunga.Iwaju will be available in other regions from February 28.
