The Northern ladies of Beyond The Veil are returning to our screens on June 7, officially confirmed with the unveiling of a first official poster for season 2, alongside first look images.

Beyond The Veil follows the lives of five resilient Northern Nigerian women as they navigate the ups and downs of modern life, careers, friendships, romances and the occasional clash of cultures.

Jemima Osunde plays Na’ima in Beyond The Veil

Na’ima (Jemima Osunde) survives a car crash and begins her journey towards healing, as she recovers and undergoes phyiscal and mental therapy while relapsing into substance abuse. Also, she faces hurdles like her deepening relationship with Matthew which her mother is against.

Norah Ego plays Baddie in Beyond The Veil

Baddriyah ‘Baddie’ (Norah Ego) finds herself grappling with the harsh reality of being trapped in an abusive marriage, struggling to come to terms with her situation. She lives a double life: one in front of the cameras as a famous influencer and the battered wife in private. This causes her to close off and find a surprising place of understanding and comfort in her ‘rival’, Sadiq’s first wife, Bilqis. A showdown with Sadiq is the catalyst needed to make a drastic move that will change the trajectory of Baddie’s life.

Maryam Booth plays Hanifa in Beyond The Veil

Hanifa (Maryam Booth) shares the burden of the financial strain brought about by Ahmadu’s failed business venture, all while being pregnant. Despite warnings from her doctor concerning her precarious pregnancy, she continues to push herself to take on freelance work. However, her health concerns begin to overtake her as she pushes herself ever so close to the edge of what she can safely take on.

Ame Aiyejina plays Zizi in Beyond The Veil

Zizi (Ame Aiyejina) resigns as the Minister’s ADC and keeps a low profile, channelling her focus toward a promotion at work. While pursuing the promotion, she meets Tarik, a police officer, on transfer to the same training programme. Their undeniable chemistry adds a layer of tension to their professional workspace. They begin a relationship without real definition beyond their shared interests and intense attraction, both knowing ‘what it is’. Zizi is further challenged by Kassim’s efforts to reconnect with her and explain why she left him months earlier.

Habiba Tanko Zock-Sock plays Surraya in Beyond The Veil

Surraya (Habiba Tanko Zock-Sock) returns from Lagos, ready to take on those she sees responsible for her exile. Still, she inserts herself into the narrative through Kassim, who unwittingly enlists her help running Na’ima’s hammam, which suffers in her absence. Surraya agrees to ‘help’ while silently sabotaging the business by selling her products under the guise of the hammam. In addition, she discovers Baddie’s secret abuse and quietly shares it with a blog, and the news becomes public. When her duplicity is discovered, Surraya finally faces the consequences which may drive her permanently away from Abuja.

Other stars to look forward to in the second season of Beyond The Veil are Yakubu Mohammed, Ummi Baba Ahmed, Vine Olugu, Blessing Uzoro, Temitope Olowoniyan, Caleb Richards, Patricia Egbon, Rikadawa Rabiu Mohammed, Andrew Bunting, Ijapari Ben-Hirki, Sani Muazu, Nadia Dutch, Amatur-Rahman Yunusa, Jahdiel Fred-Adetiba, Asmau Abdulrahman Ibrahim, Aisha Anisah Ayagi, Folawewo Aiyegbusi, and Oma Ohakim.

The series, which debuted a first season in 2023 to a devoted viewership, was created by Nadine Ibrahim & Sifa Asani Gowon. Ibrahim returns as director. Credited writers are Sifa Asani Gowon, and Brenda Garuba Ogbuka.

In a statement, director Ibrahim shares, “For me, Beyond the Veil represents an opportunity to showcase a different version of the Northern Nigerian woman—one that is bold, empowered, and unapologetically authentic. We bring new visuals that mirror rich Northern Nigerian culture, fashion, relationships, and lifestyles. It’s a reflection on our modern-day society and the complex day-to-day realities we deal with – polygamy, drug abuse, cultural restraints, family ties, forbidden relationships, gender-based violence, and much more.”

Beyond The Veil is executive produced by Ishaya Bako, Bilal Ibrahim, Nabil Zeitoun, and Fareed Zeitoun.

Beyond The Veil season 2 returns on Prime Video on June 7.
