Our favourite 2020 guilty pleasure, “Too Hot To Handle”, has been renewed for two more seasóns by Netflix. It is quite understandable if you have forgotten that this reality television series premiered in the first half of 2020 as the ‘pandemic’ year turned out to be an eventful one.
As we settled into our lockdown last year April, “Too Hot To Handle” kept viewers glued to their screen as they binged and tweeted about it at the same time.
For those outside the bubble, “Too Hot To Handle” is a reality dating competition series, where contestants are housed in the same location for four weeks and have to follow the golden rule of avoiding sexual contact of any kind during their stay. What a twist! Cos the 14 contestants were unaware going into the house. Moreover, flaunting this rule reduced the prize money to be won (and shared), which started at $100,000. At the end of the first season, the final 10 contestants ended up with $75,000 which they split.

During a year when we all had to avoid unnecessary physical contact due to COVID-19, the reality series was ranked on the Top Ten list in numerous countries, spanning a number of weeks.
Filming for the first season took place in Mexico. However, according to Deadline, the next two seasons have been planned to film on the Turks and Caicos Islands, with production underway already. In order to ensure secrecy and maintain an element of surprise for the contestants, the series has been filming under the covert working title of Parties In Paradise.
We can only look forward to whatever new twists they might add to keep things fresh as the streaming giant keeps mum on a release date for the second season.
