At Netflix’s Get Ready for What’s Next event, where new international films, TV series and films were previewed on February 1, Netflix also made an official synopsis for To Kill a Monkey, Kemi Adetiba’s highly anticipated series, available to the press. This marks the first major details about the series since shooting was completed last October.

The synopsis reads, “Efemini, a down-on-his-luck everyman whose life changes forever after a chance meeting with an old friend. Forced by circumstance to suppress his principles and explore a life of cybercrime, he finds himself making ever-greater moral compromises to stay ahead of the consequences of his new choices… and broadening tastes.”

Confirmed key cast members of the series are Bucci Franklin, William Benson, Stella Damasus, Bimbo Akintola, Micheal Ejoor, Chidi Mokeme, Lilian Afegbai, and Sunshine Roseman.

To Kill a Monkey is produced by Kemi Adetiba Visuals with Kemi Adetiba credited as director, showrunner and creator. The filmmaker has also recently announced the start of production on King of Boys 3.

At the Netflix preview event, new seasons of the following international shows were also teased: Squid Game, Bridgerton, Emily in Paris, The Diplomat and Umbrella Academy.

Brand-new shows and films like 3 Body Problem, Avatar, Back in Action, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, Six Triple Eight, The Union and Atlas were also teased. See below for the revealed first-look and their synopsis.
