Ebuka Njoku, Yahoo+ director, is heading straight to cinemas with UNO: The F in Family, his follow-up film to the 2022 minimal dark drama. Now confirmed to be distributed by Cinemax, UNO: The F in Family will begin its theatrical run on May 17.

After a ten-year absence, a prodigal son returns to the fold, forcing his family to confront unresolved issues and re-calibrate their relationships. A seemingly harmless return quickly becomes a battleground for old wounds, foundation shaking, hilarious one-upmanship, and enough laughter to make even the most dysfunctional family feel relatable. And the most relatable family dysfunction.

UNO: The F in Family reunites Njoku with multiple faces behind and in front of the camera.

The family-friendly dramedy stars Nkem Owoh, Jennifer Eliogu, Keezyto, Sophia Chisom, Tomi Ojo, Abayomi Alvin, DJ Capello, and Chimamanda Ukwueze.

According to the press release, “UNO is a layered film that promises to retain the same commitment to quality storytelling and exceptional performances.”

In a previous statement by director Njoku, who also doubles as the writer,  he said “I noticed that my mum didn’t enjoy Yahoo+ because of how dark it is. So I want my next film to be something she’d enjoy, serving as a film that can bring a family together and inspire love.”

Cinemax is known for the theatrical distribution of Jade Osiberu-produced Brotherhood and Mercy Aigbe-produced Ada Omo Daddy.

UNO: The F in Family is coming to cinemas nationwide from May 17, 2024.
