AMAA 2024 Awards: Here’s the Complete Winners List

The highly anticipated 20th edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards took place November 2, 2024, at the Balmoral Convention Center in Sheraton, hosted by Segun Arinze and Joselyn Dumas.

It was a big night for Nollywood, as Netflix’s Lights, Camera, Naija… event also took place in Lagos. There was a delay before the award presentations began at the AMAA, which may have helped industry stakeholders who were trying to attend both events in one night.

This year’s AMAA ceremony celebrated first-time winners and industry veterans across 26 categories, all judged by a jury headed by Dorothee Wenner, a filmmaker and curator.

The night’s standout winners were Nigeria’s The Weekend (winning the Best Film Award for Nigeria and Africa) and South Africa’s The Queenstown Kings with 4 awards apiece. Meanwhile, Nigeria’s recent Oscar submission Mai Martaba also went home with a gong in the costume design category.
