April 5

Saving Onome

Nancy Isime and Olumide Owuru star in Saving Onome, a thriller directed by Dimeji Ajibola, as two parents who are desperate to save their chronically ill daughter. Also starring Keppy Ekpeyong, Mary Lazarus, Lawal Michael Bolaji (NasBoi), Femi Jacobs, Kelechi Udegbe, Nosa Rex and Ashionye Michelle Raccah, it will be showing in cinemas. 

Boycott

Boycott is a 2022 film starring RMD now set to be available on Prime Video. It follows the story of a terrorist group sponsor who finds himself losing his only daughter to the warm arms of one of the terrorists who has found a reason to live again.

Checklist

Checklist is a 2021 film directed by Yemi Morafa and written by Donald Tombia. Starring Bimbo Ademoye, Jimmy Odukoya, Ayoola Ayolola, Beverly Osu and Linda Osifo, the film will be available on Prime Video.

Head Over Bills

Head Over Bills is a 2022 film directed by Dabby Chimere now available on Prime Video. The film follows a single mother and CEO of a successful company (Shaffy Bello) who faces the challenge of choosing a worthy successor among her three daughters, each grappling with their personal struggles, as they navigate through love, ambition, and the quest to prove themselves worthy heirs.

April 10

Ajosepo

Directed by Kayode Kasum, Ajosepo is expected to be a heartwarming film about family bonds. During wedding preparations, the groom’s dad is found in an entanglement with the bride’s aunt. This discovery forces Dapo and his estranged brother, Jide to work together to save the wedding. The cast includes Timini Egbuson, Mike Afolarin, Tomike Adeoye, Ibrahim Itẹle Yekini, Mercy Aigbe, Bisola Aiyeola, Yemi Solade, Ronke Oshodi, Kanaga Jnr, Bolaji Ogunmola, Muyiwa Ademola and Deyemi Okanlawon. Ajosepo will be coming to cinemas. 

April 12

Kill Boro 

Set in Azuama, a rustic town by the river, Courage Obayuwana’s Kill Boro is a gritty tale of redemption and sacrifice starring Ini Dima-Okojie, Philip Asaya, Kosisochukwu Ogboruche, Greg Ojefua, Hilda Dokubo and Brutus Richard.

Kill Boro is the 4th release from a slate of 12 films directed by first-time directors of the First Features Project. Previous releases in the slate of films are Prosper Edesiri’s CAKE, Korede Azeez’s It Blooms in June and Reuben Reng’s Love & Life.

Kill Boro has been moved once again and will be available on Prime Video from May 30.

April 19

Blacksmith 

In Blacksmith (Alagbede), a comedy directed by Usman “Blackky” Ogunlade, a local blacksmith is determined to make it. With a cast of Jaiye Kuti, Kehinde Bankole, Gabriel Afolayan, Femi Adebayo, Adebowale Adebayo, Bimbo Oshin, Taiwo Ibikunle and Mr Macaroni, it will be in cinemas. 

April 23

Ch3mistry

Directed by Adenike “Olori Esho” Adebayo in her directorial debut, Ch3mistry features a newlywed couple whose bond is tested on their honeymoon with the appearance of another woman, surprising encounters and pressure from family. The cast includes Daniel Etim-Effiong, Ebenezer Eno, Bolaji Ogunmola, Michael Ejoor, Biodun Stephen, Osarehia Orinsaye and Joseph Onalapo (Jay On-Air). Ch3mistry will be available on Netflix. 

April 26

Crossroads

This campus drama stars Deyemi Okanlawon, Lateef Adedimeji and Aisha Lawal in a love triangle. With both men consumed by their obsession, violence and desire collide as the two men go to any length to claim the woman they love. From the makers of Jagun Jagun and King of Thieves, Crossroads, a fresh narrative with familiar faces will be available on Prime Video.

April 27

Strained

Originally released in cinemas in 2023, the Okey Oku film, Strained, will be coming to Netflix. Strained is an emotional family drama about the relationship between a young woman and her estranged mother. Ebere’s mom comes to help with her infant son, giving them a chance at reconciliation. It stars Queen Nwokoye, Adaeze Onuigbo, Padita Agu, Tracey George and SamSunny. 

International Films Available in Nigeria in April 2024

April 5

Monkey Man 

Donning a monkey mask, a young man is constantly beaten in an underground fight club by other more known fighters for a measly amount of money. Dev Patel leads Monkey Man as Kid who is now determined to pay back the men that took everything away from him. 

Monkey Man will be available in cinemas.

April 11

A Thousand And One

Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, A Thousand And One follows unapologetic, free-spirited Inez (played by Teyana Taylor), who kidnaps her six-year-old son from the foster care system. The mother and son set out to reclaim their sense of home, identity, and stability, in a rapidly changing New York City. Directed by AV Rockwell in her feature debut, the film will be available on Showmax.

April 12

Civil War 

Set in a dystopian America, Alex Garland’s Civil War takes us through a war from the perspective of a team of military journalists who are racing against time to reach the capital before rebel groups take over the White House. 

Civil War will be showing in cinemas.

April 19

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver 

Zack Snyder’s space epic Rebel Moon is back with its second part. After part one’s cliffhanger, Kora and the surviving warriors gear up to face the ruthless forces of the Realm; along with training the people to fight for themselves. Ready to defend their new home from the enemy at all costs, alliances are made. 

Rebel Moon will be available to stream on Netflix. 

April 25

The Fabelmans

The 2022 semi-autobiographical work by Steve Spielberg will be available to stream on Showmax. The Fabelmans follows young Sammy Fabelman as he grows up in post-World War II-era Arizona and falls in love with filmmaking.

April 26

The Fall Guy 

A retired stuntman returns to the industry when the star of his ex-girlfriend’s production goes missing. Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt lead this action comedy film directed by David Leitch. 

The Fall Guy will be coming to cinemas.

April 28

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

The 2023 animated installment of the popular franchise will be available on Showmax.

A modernised and eccentric spin on the story of iconic detective Sherlock Holmes set in modern-day London. All four seasons of Sherlock are available to stream on Netflix.

Ripley 

Swindler Tom Ripley is hired by a wealthy man to bring his son, Dickie back home from Italy. He soon becomes obsessed with Dickie’s life and social circle. This leads to him impersonating Dickie and spinning an elaborate web of lies. Starring Andrew Scott in the titular role, Ripley will be available to stream on Netflix.

Fallout S1 

Based on the popular video game of the same name, people must live underground in post-apocalyptic Los Angeles to hide from radiation, mutants and bandits.

Black Ops
