Life and Dirt

Ted Makanjuola (MTV Shuga Naija 5) makes her feature film debut with A Night in 2005, a gripping drama set in the 2005 that unravels over one pivotal night where everything changes in an instant. Starring an ensemble cast, including Ini Dima-Okojie, Teniola Aladese, Efa Iwara, Ireti Doyle, Bimbo Akintola, and Uzoamaka Aniunoh. Catch it in Nigerian cinemas.

Wives on Strike 3: The Uprising

Omoni Oboli returns to the big screen with Wives on Strike: The Uprising, the third instalment of her popular franchise. The story follows an honors graduate who is kidnapped after returning home, leading his mother to embark on a vengeful and brutal quest to rescue him, facing a violent and harrowing ordeal along the way. We have a third instalment of the popular South African film, Happiness is a Four-Letter Word heading to Netflix. Hijack 93, a thrilling retelling by Play Network Studios comes to Netflix this month. The Platform 2

The Platform 2 is a sequel 2024 Spanish satirical sci-fi film directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia. Set in the dystopian world of the original The Platform, it once again takes viewers to the Vertical Self-Management Center, a prison where inmates live in a multi-floor structure, with each floor housing two prisoners. A platform of food descends daily, feeding the upper levels while leaving the lower levels desperate. The film stars Milena Smit and Hovik Keuchkerian and is set to premiere on Netflix.

Joker: Folie a Deux

Joker: Folie à Deux is a musical sequel to the critically acclaimed 2019 film Joker. Joaquin Phoenix reprises his role as Arthur Fleck, now a patient at Arkham State Hospital. Joining him is Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn (Harleen Quinzel). Set two years after the events of the first film, the psychological thriller follows Arthur and Harleen as they descend into shared madness, experiencing life through the lens of a musical. Meanwhile, Arthur’s followers outside the asylum begin a movement to free him. Joker: Folie a Deux is set to premiere in cinemas nationwide.

The Boy and The Heron

The Boy and The Heron is an Academy Award winning 2023 Japanese animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Studio Ghibli. The story follows a young boy, Mahito Maki, who moves to the countryside after the tragic death of his mother. While adjusting to his new life, he discovers an abandoned tower near his home and enters a fantastical world, guided by a mysterious talking grey heron. It premieres on Netflix.

Smile 2, the psychological supernatural horror sequel to Smile (2022), returns to the cinemas with an all-new cast and plotline. This time, the film follows a pop singer who begins to experience a series of increasingly disturbing events just as she’s about to embark on a tour. From the hallowed halls of Tyler Perry, comes another TV series, Beauty in Black a 16-episode drama premiering this season on Netflix. Set in Atlanta, the series intertwines the lives of a wealthy Black family at the helm of a hair care empire with an exotic dancer entangled in the hidden world of Magic City’s strip club scene. Monkey Man

For his directorial debut, Dev Patel brings us Monkey Man, where he also stars as the titular character. The story follows a nameless young man who embarks on a vengeful mission against the corrupt officials responsible for his mother’s death, while also exploiting the vulnerable and powerless. Alongside Patel, the film features performances by Sikandar Kher, Sharlto Copley, Pitobash, and Vipin Sharma. Monkey Man is set to premiere on Showmax.
