FAME Week Africa 2025 Returns to Cape Town as a Launchpad for the Continent’s Creative Future (Registration Open)

From selling a TV series, licensing music, or launching a fashion brand, FAME Week is where careers can be launched and creative work finds its audience, locally and internationally. The 2025 edition, returning to Cape Town from September 1 to 6, 2025, will host some of the continent’s creative industries, with registration now officially open.

At its core, FAME Week is a platform for creators to pitch their projects, find collaborators, and learn from others in the industry. It’s packed with networking events, talks by industry leaders, live demonstrations, and opportunities to make meaningful connections. The event comprises several smaller festivals, each focused on a specific area of the creative world. MIP Africa runs from September 1 to 3, focusing on film and TV, offering one-on-one meetings between creators and major buyers like streamers and broadcasters.

The same dates host Animation Africa, where animators can pitch their stories, showcase their work, and explore how African animation is gaining worldwide attention. Muziki Afrika also takes place during these days, focusing on the business of music, including rights, distribution, and how to get songs placed in films or ads.

On September 2 and 3, the African Fashion Forum will host fashion shows, panel discussions, and networking events that look at how African style is shaping global trends, especially in entertainment. To close out the week, the FAME Shorts Film Festival runs from September 4 to 6, spotlighting short films from across the continent and its diaspora. These bite-sized films often serve as a launchpad for new filmmakers and will be judged and celebrated during a final awards ceremony.

Nomsa Philiso, CEO of General Entertainment MultiChoice Africa, one of the key partners of the festival, says the event is more than just a showcase; it’s where real business happens. “Our involvement in MIP Africa at FAME Week goes far beyond traditional sponsorship. This is where ideas find backing, talent finds opportunity, and creative ambition finds a way forward — and we’re committed to investing in that momentum and helping it grow.”

Organiser Martin Hiller says Africa is becoming one of the most exciting creative hubs in the world, with audiences hungry for new perspectives and stories rooted in African experiences. Last year, FAME Week Africa welcomed people from 35 different countries, including 14 African nations.

FAME Week Africa 2025 is open to anyone in the creative industry: filmmakers, musicians, designers, animators, students, or fans who want to be part of the event. Whether you’re looking to learn, get inspired, or land your next big break, this event is where it can all happen.
