Neptune3 Studios Announces New Project in ‘Best Friends in The World’ Universe

The Best Friends in the World universe is growing up. Neptune3 Studios is taking the beloved series into feature-film territory with a new project, titled Best Friends in the World: The Year Between. The film will continue the story from earlier entries while also standing on its own. According to the creators, returning viewers can reconnect with the emotional core of the series, while new audiences will be able to follow the story.

Positioned firmly as a coming-of-age drama, the upcoming project will explore the quiet, in-between moments that shape people as they move from one phase of life to another. It will centre how friendships evolve through growth, distance, and transition, and how time and personal development can strain bonds that once felt unbreakable. The film is currently in post-production, with filming completed in Uyo.

This new chapter of Best Friends in the World will feature a mix of returning faces and new characters, still under wraps. The franchise has built a loyal following through its honest portrayal of friendship and teenage growing pains. The original web series was released on YouTube, where Neptune3 Studios has grown to around 1.5 million subscribers, with multiple episodes reaching multi-million views.

Neptune3 Studios, a film and television production company (founded by Jemima Damina, Jesimiel Damina, and Jeiel Damina), continues its focus on youth storytelling with The Year Between. This instalment will move beyond the familiar high school setting, shifting attention to the more personal and intimate spaces of the characters’ lives and their growth.

Presenting this latest instalment as a feature film expands the story’s scope, with Neptune3 Studios also confirming plans to extend the narrative beyond this project. The studio aims to follow the characters from adolescence into young adulthood. Neptune3 Studios most recently released School Love Stories, presented as a collection of four romantic tales set in a secondary school.
