The Emmy nominations were announced today, and in a surprising twist (at least to me), Bridgerton and Emily in Paris will be vying for the most prestigious television awards on September 20, 2021. Bridgerton, Lovecraft Country and The Boys also earn first time nominations in the Outstanding Drama Series category, joining returning nominees Pose, The Crown, The Mandalorian, This Is Us and previous category winner The Handmaid’s Tale.

This year, HBO/HBO Max leads with 130 nominations, Netflix has the second-most nominations with 129, followed by Disney+ with 71 and NBC with 46. The Crown and The Mandalorian boast the most nominations with 24, followed by WandaVision (23), and The Handmaid’s Tale (21). Other newcomers also rank at the top with Ted Lasso (20), Lovecraft Country (18), The Queen’s Gambit (18) and Mare of Easttown (16).
