Eva Anya Joins What Kept Me Up as New Managing Editor

Eva Anya has officially joined us as our new Managing Editor, working within our editorial team since November 2024. A passionate cinephile and experienced media expert, Eva will oversee our day-to-day editorial operations and take on the role of Country Manager, handling our operations in Nigeria.

Eva’s entry marks a shift in our team structure—Ikeade will take a step back from the day-to-day activities, instead steering the wider creative direction of What Kept Me Up. With Eva stepping into her new role, we’re excited for what’s ahead as we continue to cut through the noise around industry conversations with the unique voices of our mostly Nigerian contributors.

Speaking on Anya’s appointment, Ikeade expressed confidence in her passion and vision: “First and foremost, it’s about loving films above anything and expressing that passion in various creative ways. Eva embodies that in every decision and idea she brings forward. We can’t wait to grow with her.”

Also, we want to appreciate Hope Eniayekan, an integral part of our team as Assistant Editor until January 2025, as she moves on to exciting new opportunities. We’re grateful for her inestimable contributions during our media expansion in 2024.

Looking ahead, we’re committed to bringing you well-developed original multimedia efforts, new serial publications, and more global conversations about films. The film world isn’t a vacuum, and the more we examine our stories, despite their uniqueness, side by side with films from across the world, the closer we get to those consequential wins for our industry.
