Directed by Sonia Irabor and produced by Nemsia Studios for Prime Video, the movie features a young cast including Darasimi Nadi, Nonzo Bassey, and Onyinye Odokoro.

Alive Till Dawn

During a sudden zombie attack, a police officer, some former prisoners, and a woman get trapped inside a building. They must work together to survive through the night while the city falls apart outside. Sunshine Rosman stars as Alex, joined by Uzor Arukwe, Chisom Agoawuike, Sani Muazu, and Michael Dappa. Produced by Leo Obienyi and directed by Sulaiman Omotola Ogegbo, the zombie thriller will be released in cinemas nationwide. 

Everything Is New Again

Everything Is New Again arrives in Nigerian cinemas as part of the new year slate from Inkblot Productions and FilmOne Studios. The age‑gap romantic drama tells a story about love, second chances, family ties and personal growth, centring on characters whose lives shift in different ways as they balance relationships and identity. Directed by Naz Onuzo and written by Nicole Chikwe, the cast includes performances from Mercy Aigbe, Vine Olugu, Nancy Isime, Gbubemi Ejeye, Desmond Elliot, Gbemi Akinlade, Angel Unigwe, Olumide Oworu, Shammah Agah and Abayomi Alvin.

January 1

The Split

Set in the tense world of banking, The Split follows three employees, Abdul, Harriet and Tola, whose personal struggles push them into a risky decision involving an old, inactive account with no clear owner. Their plan starts to fall apart when a young man named Ezekiel arrives, claiming the money belongs to his late father. As he demands answers, pressure builds, and the secret threatens their jobs, their families and their lives. The Split premieres on Africa Magic Showcase at 8:30 pm.

Anikulapo: Rise of The Spectre S2

Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre returns for a second season on Netflix, following the first season in 2024, created by Kunle Afolayan. Further details about the story and cast are yet to be announced, but we can expect the new season to continue the story.

How To Train Your Dragon

On the rugged Viking island of Berk, strength has always meant one thing: slaying dragons. Hiccup doesn’t quite fit into that story. Smaller, quieter, and more interested in building things than swinging an axe, he shocks his village when he spares a wounded Night Fury instead of killing it. That choice leads to an unlikely friendship with Toothless, a dragon feared by all and understood by none. The live-action How to Train Your Dragon brings the familiar story into a more grounded, physical world. Mason Thames plays Hiccup, with Nico Parker as Astrid and Gerard Butler returning as Stoick, his imposing father. Coming to Showmax.

Oppenheimer

Oppenheimer follows J. Robert Oppenheimer from his early scientific struggles through the secret work at Los Alamos and up to the moment the world changed forever with the Trinity test and the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. At its heart is a character wrestling with brilliance, fear, and the staggering weight of what he helped unleash. Cillian Murphy plays Oppenheimer, supported by Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon and a large ensemble cast, all directed by Christopher Nolan. The Academy Award-winning film was released globally on July 21, 2023. Oppenheimer will be available to watch on Netflix.

Good Night, and GoodLuck: Live From Broadway

Good Night, and Good Luck: Live From Broadway brings the story of journalist Edward R. Murrow (George Clooney) to life on stage. Set during the height of the Cold War, the play focuses on Murrow’s bold stand against Senator Joseph McCarthy’s anti-communist witch hunts. Watch the play on Netflix.

Greenland 2: Migration

After surviving the comet strike that devastated Earth in Greenland (2020), the Garrity family faces a new reality far harsher than any shelter. Years after finding refuge deep beneath the ice, John (Gerard Butler), Allison (Morena Baccarin) and their now-teenage son Nathan (Roman Griffin Davis) are pushed out of safety when their bunker can no longer sustain them. With radiation storms, collapsing infrastructure and relentless environmental threats around every turn, they set out across the frozen remnants of Europe toward a rumoured haven where air might be cleaner and water drinkable. Kill Tony: Once Upon a Time in Texas

Kill Tony: Once Upon a Time in Texas brings the live comedy show’s energy to Netflix, filmed in Austin. Host Tony Hinchcliffe leads a panel including Joe Rogan, Tom Segura, Shane Gillis, and Jeff Ross as they react to one-minute sets from new comedians. With no script and plenty of surprises, this special captures the wild, unpredictable spirit that made Kill Tony a cult hit.

Materialists

Materialists tells the story of Lucy, a successful matchmaker in New York who helps rich clients find love. When Harry, a wealthy and charming man, comes into her life, Lucy starts to question if money should decide who she cares about. At the same time, her old boyfriend John, who doesn’t have much money, returns and makes things more complicated. Directed by Past Lives’ director Celine Song, Materialists stars Dakota Johnson as Lucy, Chris Evans as John, and Pedro Pascal as Harry. Directed by Celine Song, Materialists was released theatrically in 2025 and will now stream on Netflix.

Mafia Mamma

A trip to Italy takes a sharp turn in Mafia Mamma when Kristin, a suburban American mom, learns that her late grandfather was a feared mafia boss and she’s next in line. Pulled into a world of feuding clans and high-stakes decisions, she’s forced to adapt quickly and hold her own in unfamiliar territory. Toni Collette leads the film as Kristin, alongside Monica Bellucci as Bianca, Sophia Nomvete, Giulio Corso, Eduardo Scarpetta, Alfonso Perugini, and Francesco Mastroianni. Streaming on Netflix.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple

Set after the events of 28 Years Later, The Bone Temple returns to a Britain still broken by the Rage Virus. Spike crosses paths with Sir Jimmy Crystal and his dangerous group, while Dr. Ian Kelson uncovers truths that could change how survivors live or die, in a world where people can be as deadly as the infected. Directed by Nia DaCosta and written by Alex Garland, the film stars Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, Erin Kellyman, and Chi Lewis-Parry, and arrives in cinemas nationwide. 

The Rip

When a squad of Miami police officers uncovers a rundown stash house packed with millions in unmarked cash, the discovery sets off a chain of events that refuses to stay contained. Trust inside the unit starts to crack, outside threats close in, and every choice carries consequences that could destroy both their careers and their lives. Written and directed by Joe Carnahan, the film stars Matt Damon and Ben Affleck at the centre of an ensemble that includes Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins, Kyle Chandler, Néstor Carbonell, and Lina Esco. Kidnapped: Elizabeth Smart tells the true story of 14-year-old Elizabeth Smart’s 2002 abduction from her home in Salt Lake City and her nine months in captivity. Featuring Elizabeth’s own voice, interviews with her family, and the investigators involved, the film shares her journey of survival and strength. Directed by Benedict Sanderson, the documentary will stream on Netflix.

I Know What You Did Last Summer

After a deadly accident on the roads of Southport, North Carolina, five college friends, Danica (Madelyn Cline), Ava (Chase Sui Wonders), Milo (Jonah Hauer‑King), Teddy (Tyriq Withers), and Stevie (Sarah Pidgeon), agree to keep what happened a secret. But a year later, someone knows the truth, and things start to get dangerous. The friends turn to Julie James and Ray Bronson, played again by Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr., who survived the original horror years ago. Other actors like Billy Campbell, Austin Nichols, and Gabbriette Bechtel also play important roles as the town faces new fears. Previously released in American theatres, the horror picture will be available to watch on Netflix.

Jurassic World: Rebirth

Jurassic World: Rebirth follows a team led by Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali sent to a remote island to recover dinosaur DNA for a medical breakthrough. Their mission turns dangerous when they face deadly creatures and meet a stranded family, including Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. Directed by Gareth Edwards, this seventh film in the franchise will be available on Showmax. 

Mercy

In near-future Los Angeles, detective Chris Raven, played by Chris Pratt, faces a 90-minute trial accused of killing his wife. The judge overseeing the case is an advanced AI, portrayed by Rebecca Ferguson. Annabelle Wallis stars as his wife, with Kylie Rogers as their daughter. Also featuring Kali Reis, Chris Sullivan, Kenneth Choi, Rafi Gavron, and Jeff Pierre, Mercy hits theatres nationwide.

Skyscraper Live

Netflix adds a new spin to its live event slate with Skyscraper Live. The TV special will feature real-time tension and high-rise thrills, with challenges and big, risky moments that recall the energy of Skyscraper, starring Dwayne Johnson, Neve Campbell, and Chin Han.

The Big Fake 

Set against the gritty streets of 1970s Rome, The Big Fake follows aspiring artist Toni Chichiarelli as his talent for painting draws him into the shadowy world of forgery, crime, and ambition. The Italian drama stars Pietro Castellitto as Toni, with Giulia Michelini, Andrea Arcangeli, Pierluigi Gigante, Aurora Giovinazzo, Edoardo Pesce, and Claudio Santamaria. Streaming on Netflix. 

January 25

The Exorcist: Believer

In The Exorcist: Believer, Leslie Odom Jr. stars as Victor Fielding, a father fighting to save his daughter, Angela, played by Lidya Jewett, after she returns from the woods changed. Ellen Burstyn returns as Chris MacNeil, the mother from the original story, who steps in to help. The cast also includes Olivia Marcum, Ann Dowd, Jennifer Nettles, and Norbert Leo Butz. Streaming on Netflix.

Awake

Awake (2007) tells the story of Clay (Hayden Christensen), a wealthy young man who’s about to receive a life‑saving heart transplant. Before the operation, he secretly marries his girlfriend, Sam (Jessica Alba), despite his controlling mother’s objections. Once Clay is under the knife, something goes terribly wrong. He experiences a rare condition known as anaesthetic awareness; he can hear and feel everything happening around him, but his body won’t respond. As he lies helpless, he begins to pick up fragments of conversations that suggest not everything in the operating room is as it seems. Coming to Netflix.

Mike Epps: Delusional

Sweet Home Alabama

The Good Doctor S7

The Good Doctor S7 continues to follow Dr Shaun Murphy and the team at St. Bonaventure Hospital as they face new challenges both in and out of the operating room. As with preceding seasons, this season will bring fresh medical cases that test their skills and compassion, while also diving into the personal lives of the doctors. Can This Love Be Translated 

Ju Ho-jin (Kim Seon-ho) is a talented interpreter whose latest job is to work with top actress Cha Mu-hee (Go Youn-jung). As they travel across several countries, their relationship starts to change, especially with the arrival of a charming Japanese star. Written by the Hong sisters and directed by Yoo Young-eu, the Korean romantic comedy will stream on Netflix.

The Upshaws Part 7

After years of ups, downs, and laugh-out-loud family moments, the final run of Netflix’s sitcom The Upshaws returns with Part 7, closing out the Upshaw family’s journey in Indianapolis. Mike Epps leads the ensemble as Bennie Upshaw alongside Wanda Sykes as Lucretia Turner and Kim Fields as Regina Upshaw, with Khali Spraggins, Jermelle Simon, Journey Christine, and Diamond Lyons.

Bridgerton S4 Part 1

Season 4, Part 1 of Bridgerton shifts the focus to Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson). After years of avoiding expectations, he meets a mysterious woman at a masquerade ball who leaves a lasting impression and pushes Benedict to rethink love, status, and what he really wants.
