A key highlight this year is the Festival Gathering, a hybrid program presented with the British Council, designed to equip African arts and culture leaders with practical skills in sustainability, funding, and festival programming. This initiative includes the Festival Management Residency, which began virtually in September 2024 and engaged over 50 festival managers from Africa and Europe, including Kenya, Rwanda, Ghana, Nigeria, and the United Kingdom.
Other planned festival events for participants and attendees include a Y2K Party, Rave/DJ Battle, Fringe After Dark, and Creative Hustle: The Filmmaker and Guide to Global Audiences. Participants can also compete for cash prizes, festival awards, and exclusive mentorships.
Lagos Fringe was inspired by the iconic Edinburgh Fringe, where Phoebe Waller-Bridge debuted her one-woman show Fleabag before it was adapted into a Prime Video series.
The multidisciplinary Lagos Fringe Festival will take place from November 19 to 24, 2024.
