Amazon Lands Veteran Actors for David Weil’s Anthology Series ‘Solos’

David Weil is set to release another original series for Amazon Prime Video later this year.  The Amazon original series, Solos, starring multiple Academy Award winners. Past winners like Morgan Freeman (Million Dollar Baby), Anne Hathaway (Les Miserables), Hellen Mirren (The Queen) and Emmy Award-Winner Uzo Aduba (Orange is the New Black) will also be involved in the highly anticipated series from Hunter creator, David Weil. Other actors that will feature in the series are, Constance Wu (Crazy Rich Asians), Anthony Mackie (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Nicole Beharie (Sleepy Hollow), and Dan Steven (Legion) will star in the series that will premiere on Amazon Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

The series is slated to premiere in 2021. David Weil will be the executive producer, showrunner and will be making his debut as a director. Along with Weil, Sam Taylor-Johnson and Laura Lancaster will executive produce the series. Pixie Wespiser will also serve the role of a producer. Taylor-Johnson will be directing two episodes and additional directors, Zach Braff and Tiffany Johnson  will pick up directorial roles in the upcoming series.

According to Deadline, the executive producer, David Weil said, “I am beyond thrilled to be bringing Solos to life alongside this group of artists who I so deeply admire. I created this piece with a desire to capture stories about connection, hope and the search for that common hum of humanity that binds us all. I’m immensely grateful to Jennifer Salke and my incredible partners at Amazon for their unwavering support and collaboration on this special project”.

Solos is a seven-part anthology series that tells the phenomenal stories of different characters, each from different perspectives and moments in time. Morgan Freeman will play the role of Stuart; Aduba as Sasha; Beharie will enact the role of Nera; Mackie is Tom; Hathaway will play the role of Leah; Stevens portrays Otto; Mirren is Peg and Wu will play Jenny.
