Director Obi Emelonye Returns with New Film, ‘Money Miss Road’, Hits Cinemas in July

After taking the first leap into producing a movie via Zoom during the Coronavirus pandemic, film director Obi Emelonye is set to storm the big screens with a new film, Money Miss Road. Money Miss Road will explore the action-fused comedy genre and is set to open in cinemas on the 22nd of July.

Produced by Joy Odiete (Gone), Money Miss Road stars Jidekene Achufusi (Living In Bondage) and Josh Alfred (known as Josh2Funny). The thriller follows two down-on-their-luck friends Josiah (Josh2Funny) and Joseph (Jidekene Achufusi) whose lives take a different turn when a mix up happens in a hotel room belonging to Diokpa (Charley Boy), a local crime lord. A Cat and Mouse game begins with Diokpa tracing the two Joes who have soon become the biggest boys in Lagos.

Anthony Monjaro (The Therapist), Chioma Adibe (Slave Warriors) and Melvin Oduah (Foreigner’s God) will star in supporting roles.

Movies and TV Shows Coming in July


Obi Emelonye directed the award-winning Mirror Boy and 2012’s Last Flight to Abuja. Most recently, his biopic of IBB, Badamasi: Portrait of a General, started streaming on Amazon Prime Video. In a statement, the veteran filmmaker shared that he had always hoped to bring more comic characters to life following his comedy film Onye Ozi. “After a few years of biopics, dramas and the likes, I thought it was time to work on an action-packed comedy with memorable characters.” 

Serving as an executive producer on the project is Odinaka Emmanuel Offia in a collaboration between The Blue Pictures Entertainment, Codeo Limited and The Nollywood Factory. Radisson Blu Anchorage proudly partners the film.
