Guguru Studios and Signet Ring Studios have completed principal photography and unveiled first-look images for their upcoming short film, The Autograph of Nothingness. This existential psycho-thriller combines surrealism with an exploration of the delicate human longing for connection.

Directed by Moses Ipadeola, the film follows Menundo (played by Levi Chikere), a man devastated after his childhood love, Anne (Sharon Rotimi), relocates to the UK in search of a better life. Isolated in his crumbling apartment, Menundo grapples with the pain of lost love and finds solace in a mysterious woman (Omowunmi Dada), whose presence oscillates between comfort and unease.

Omowunmi Dada takes on dual responsibilities, both starring and serving as an executive producer. The cast also includes Uzor Arukwe, with Okwong Fadamana (A Green Fever) helming the cinematography.

Written by Cynthia Dozie-Onwusoh and Kemi Rebecca Osiyi, the film tackles themes of grief, loneliness, and men’s mental health. The story is a personal exploration of men’s often-silent struggles, aiming to demystify difficult conversations around these topics, according to director Ipadeola.

For Mautin Tairu, founder of Guguru Studios, this film marks his first project as a producer following his role as co-executive producer on the Sundance Award-winning Mami Wata and executive producer for Tanwa Savage.

The Autograph of Nothingness marks another milestone for Ipadeola, an alum of the British Film Lab and director of Ekun Iyawo.

Lead actor Chikere is known for his AMVCA-nominated role in Play Network‘s Blood Vessel, while Rotimi is known for her role as Flo in Africa Magic‘s Chronicles.
