Kava arrived globally in August 2025 as a streaming platform conceived from a collaboration between Inkblot Studios and Filmhouse Group. The platform is currently offering a subscription service across smart TVs, mobile devices, tablets and web browsers, with films also available for download to watch offline. Subscription for Kava starts at N1,500 per month, without a free trial, and $5.99 monthly for diaspora users. However, diaspora users receive a 50% discount on their subsequent subscription for the next three months.

The founders have explained that the goal is to provide a space where Nollywood titles can be released to a worldwide audience soon after they leave cinemas, while also keeping a collection of older popular films available in one place.
“We’ve built a world-class digital platform tailored to showcase the richness of Nollywood. For creators, it’s a new economy. One that truly champions and reflects who we are – as Africans, as artists, and as a people with stories that matter,” Chinaza Onuzo, Co-CEO of Kava, said in the launch statement.
When the service went live, it carried up to thirty Nollywood films. The first wave of titles was a mix of recent cinema releases and well-known favourites drawn from various genres, including drama, comedy, romance, and thriller. These include:
Alakada: Bad and Boujee – 2024 Toyin Abraham-produced comedy that had already drawn cinema audiences.
Owambe Thieves – released in cinemas April 2025, featuring Zubby Michael, Odunlade Adekola and Sola Sobowale.
What About Us? – starring Kunle Remi and Uzor Arukwe. Premiered in cinemas mid-2024.
House Job – a brand new title with Erica Nlewedim in the lead.
A Lagos Love Story – a 2025 Nollywood romance previously released on Netflix and Prime Video.
Queen Lateefah – another late 2024 theatrical release confirmed for the platform.

On the site, the library is grouped into five sections: Featured Titles, Gbas Gbos & Comedy, I Go Love O, Crime & Action, and Juju & Supernatural. Titles available to stream in each category include:

Titles such as Lisabi: The Uprising, A Lagos Love Story, The Party, and Seven Doors are available only to international subscribers, since they are already on Netflix in Africa.
Kava plans to expand the library gradually, adding new titles every week and developing original productions created specifically for the service, for Africans by Africans, as noted during a press conference in July.
During the press conference, it was also mentioned that the platform will also be a home to short films, a welcome addition for filmmakers who only look to YouTube for distribution.
