The calm grounds of the British Council hosted the nominations announcement-cum-press-briefing for The Filmjoint Awards 2025, the second edition of an event that celebrates the importance of short films globally.
The event commenced with opening remarks from the conveners, after which the screening and nomination processes for the awards were carefully outlined, focusing on The Filmjoint’s transparency and fairness. Before the nominations process, The Filmjoint founder, Gbenga Adeoti, shared his excitement about the much-improved quality of this year’s submissions compared to last year.
The event also had an interactive Q&A panel session featuring one of the jury members, Tolu Ajayi (Known for Over The Bridge and Current HOD, Film Directing EbonyLife Academy). He spoke about the emerging opportunities for filmmakers to increase their financial prospects through partnerships with TV networks and streaming platforms.
This year’s jury members include Chris Odeh, Josephine Obudo, Kunle Idowu, Obinna Okerekeocha, Ronya Man, Tolu Ajayi, Wavinya Ngei, and Martini Akande. Public voting for The Filmjoint Awards 2025 is currently open to the public in specific categories & will close on December 6, 2024.
