Where to Watch 2026 AMVCA Nominated Titles

With nominations now out for the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), many viewers are asking one simple question: where can these films be watched? This year’s lineup spans cinema releases, television titles and streaming platforms.

Here’s a guide on where to watch some of the nominated titles at the moment. 

All available to stream on Showmax (migrating soon to DStvStream): The Yard, The Low Priest, Nigerian Idol (S10), Ultimate Girls Trip: Africa, Chapa Chapa My Love, Out N About (Harar). Undugu, Adam To Eve, Mother of the Brides, The Yard, Bet I Love You, The Low Priest, Bobo, The Real Housewives Of Lagos S3. All the titles listed are MultiChoice Originals nominated across Best Scripted and Unscripted M-Net Original, Best Indigenous Language Film (Southern Africa), Best Scripted and Unscripted Series categories. 

3 Cold Dishes 

Three women, connected by shared experiences, take matters into their own hands in a story about justice and consequence. 3 Cold Dishes received six nominations for Best Writing, Best Score, Best Editing, Best Movie, Best Director, and Wale Ojo for Best Lead Actor.  Available on Prime Video in the UK.

Baba Oh

Created by Temilola “Taymi B” Balogun, Baba Oh follows a man balancing two very different identities, a babalawo and a rapper, moving between spirituality and everyday life. It plays out in simple, familiar settings, with humour arising from the collision of those two worlds. Nominated for Best Writing in a TV series, Baba Oh stars Bimbo Thomas, Oli Ekun, Bimbo Ademoye, and Afeez Oyetoro and is available on YouTube.

Behind the Scenes 

Follows a successful businesswoman whose generosity toward family and friends begins to take a toll, forcing her to confront betrayal and rethink her relationships. Behind The Scenes premiered on December 12, 2025, in cinemas nationwide, and has five AMVCA nominations, including Best Movie, Best Makeup, Best Lead, and Best Supporting Actress. Coming to Netflix April 3.

Blackout

A woman wakes up in a home and family she does not recognise, then tries to break out of a life she never chose and return to the world she remembers. Directed by Okechukwu Oku, Blackout opened in Nigerian cinemas in February 2025 and is now streaming on Oraclefilms.tv. Nominated for Best Writing. 

Finding Nina

Follows a young woman piecing her life back together while searching for clarity around love, identity and the choices she has made. The Nemsia Studio title was nominated for Best Cinematography and is available on Prime Video

Her Excellency 

Starring Sola Sobowale as a woman in a position of power dealing with political pressure, public expectations and personal decisions. Sola Sobowale earned a Best Lead Actress nomination for her role. Available on Kava following its run in cinemas. 

Inside Job

After an honest housekeeper is fired without warning or pension, her daughter and niece decide to seek justice against the businessman responsible. The Best Indigenous Language (East Africa) nominated Kenyan series is streaming on Netflix in Africa.  

Kash Money

Set in Kenya, the drama series follows Joe Njenga, a ruthless tycoon whose need for control sets off his own downfall and throws his family into crisis. The Best Series (Scripted) nominee is available on Netflix in Africa. 

Labake Olododo 

Theatrically released in May 2025, the Yoruba epic follows Labake, a bold woman who takes on injustice in her community and faces betrayal along the way. Nominated for Best Make-Up and Best Indigenous Language (West Africa), Labake Olododo is available on Kava. 

Landline 

A stranded military sergeant keeps getting calls from an old landline, each one pushing him to try to save his pregnant wife from a killer, only for the same tragedy to repeat itself. Landline was nominated for Best Editing. Streaming on Prime Video

Lisabi: A Legend is Born

A historical epic chronicling the rise of the Egba hero Lisabi, currently streaming on Netflix in Africa. Nominated in Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa), Best Make-Up and Lateef Adedimeji for Best Lead Actor. 

MTV Shuga Mashariki

Set in Kenya, the series follows a group of young people dealing with sex, relationships, and family pressures. Episodes of the Best Writing TV Series are available on MTV Shuga’s YouTube channel. 

My Body, God’s Temple

Nominated for Best Short Film, My Body, God’s Temple is a personal, faith-driven short film about body autonomy and belief, available to watch on YouTube. Directed and written by Uzoamaka Power, My Body, God’s Temple is one of three short films in the Zikoko Life anthology series. 

My Father’s Shadow 

Set around the 1993 election period in Nigeria, it follows two brothers who spend a day in Lagos with their father. Available on MUBI in select regions from April 10. My Father’s Shadow received multiple nominations, including Best Movie, Best Sound, Best Score/Music, Best Director and Best Cinematography. 

Owambe Thieves

A group uses Lagos party scenes as cover for a string of thefts, until things begin to spiral and loyalties are tested. Previously released in cinemas, Owambe Thieves was nominated in Best Supporting Actor category for Femi Branch’s performance. Now streaming on Kava. 

Red Circle 

The crime drama follows a journalist who investigates a powerful crime network, only to find herself drawn into a dangerous world that puts her life and those around her at risk. Nora Awolowo’s Rixel Studios made its theatrical debut with Red Circle, now available to stream on Kava. Red Circle has nominations for Best Lead (Femi Branch) and Best Supporting Actor (Lateef Adedimeji). 

Suky

Tells the story of a young man drawn into the world of underground fighting as he tries to survive and change his circumstances. Isaac Ayodeji was nominated for his writing role in the film, Victor Akpan for Best Art Direction and Ruth Harcourt for Best Make-Up. Watch it on Prime Video. 

The Covenant 

When a soldier learns his previously declared dead brother is still alive, he sets out to rescue him from militant groups tied to occult practices. Sola Sobowale earns her second nomination this year in the Best Supporting Actress category. This series is streaming on Netflix.

The Herd

Begins with a wedding that turns into a kidnapping, as victims struggle to survive while tensions rise among their captors. The Herd is one of the most-nominated films, with 9 nominations, including Best Director, Best Movie, Best Lead Actress (Genoveva Umeh), and two Best Supporting Actress nominations (Linda Ejiofor and Amal Umar). The Herd arrived on Netflix in Africa shortly after its cinema premiere. 

The Lost Days 

A family story where past issues resurface, forcing conversations that have long been avoided. First-time screen actor Ifeoma Fafunwa landed a Best Lead Actress nomination for her role as Chisom. Streaming on Prime Video. 

The Party 

A man’s sudden death at a celebration leads to an investigation where friends, family and colleagues all become suspects. The three-part series has three nominations in Best Writing, Best Sound and Best Score categories, available on Netflix in Africa. 

The Wives

A faith-based drama that follows couples dealing with marriage, trust and belief, as relationships are tested by secrets, pressure and personal struggles. The Wives was nominated for Best Writing TV series and is available to watch on YouTube. 

To Kill a Monkey

Follows a struggling programmer who is drawn into cybercrime by an old friend, leading him into a world of fraud, pressure and moral compromise. Kemi Adetiba’s To Kill A Monkey raked in eight nominations: Best Editing, Best Score, Best Series (Scripted), Best Costume Design, Best Supporting Actor, Best Lead Actor, Best Lead Actress and Best Cinematography. The series is on Netflix in select global regions.
