‘To Adaego With Love’ Set For Theatrical Release February 2026

AFRIFF 2025 award-winning period romantic drama To Adaego with Love, directed by Nwamaka Chikezie, is scheduled to open in Nigerian cinemas on February 6, 2026.

Set in 1975, the film tells the story of a soldier and a schoolteacher from opposing tribes who fall in love amid a nation still recovering from civil war and societal divisions. Their relationship is tested by tradition, family loyalties, and a society striving to heal.

The film features lead performances from Chisom Agoawuike and Adam Garba, supported by Chioma Chukwuka, Bob Manuel Udokwu, Riyo David, Demi Banwo, Tonia Chukwurah, Six Foot Plus, and the late Onyeka Onwenu, whose role marks one of her final screen appearances.

Produced by Tade Production House and Ziva Works Production, To Adaego with Love was one of the biggest winners at AFRIFF 2025, taking home Best Feature Film and Best Screenplay. The screenplay was written by producer Brenda Ogbukaa-Garuba, who noted during her awards speech that she had attended the AFRIFF screenwriting masterclass in 2016.

Tribe Nation will be handling the film’s theatrical release in Nigeria. For international markets, Trino Studios serves as the film’s Sales Representatives, overseeing its global distribution.
