WKMUp Unveils Teaser for Slate of New YouTube Shows

What Kept Me Up is officially doubling down on YouTube with a slate of 3 upcoming new shows. This comes after a period of soft launch amidst its multimedia expansion. With a first look unveiled in a What to Expect mashup teaser, the shows will explore various unique perspectives that can engage film lovers.

With each show—from humorous to introspective—focusing on a different kind of cinephile (industry professionals to casual film watchers), viewers can expect varied perspectives that celebrate the art of cinema within and beyond the Nigerian film industry.

Watch a sneak peek at the three shows in this teaser trailer:

Read more details about the shows below:

Experts React: Kicking off with Experts Reacts, this show lightheartedly reacts to movie scenes with selected members of the audience whom we deem as ‘experts’. The idea is to break down the accuracy (or hilarity) of these portrayals while keeping their reactions natural, fun and engaging. The first episode will feature alumni of a posh secondary school reacting to the 2022 Netflix YA series Far From Home.

Keeping Up With a Cinephile: Keeping Up With a Cinephile video series is a bi-weekly show set to get into the mind of a Nigerian cinephile. Each episode will feature a one-person conversation in a rapid-fire Q and A that allows for a fun conversation into the quirks and habits of a Nigerian cinephile.

Films That Lit My Fuse: This series format allows each guest of selected filmmakers to share their personal experiences and insights into the films that have shaped their lives and careers. The series, released monthly, promises to cover a wide range of topics, including discussions on favorite genres, iconic moments in film history, and hidden gems of those who are passionate about cinema, highlighting how certain cinematic moments set them on the path of filmmaking.

What Kept Me Up’s YouTube channel will be the home of these new highly film-focused projects. Subscribe for the brand new episodes and exclusive content, set to roll out on Saturday, November 23, 2024.
