HBO’s Game of Thrones Bows Out in Style

After missing out on last year’s Emmys due to the longer sabbatical and production time for the final season of the ‘greatest show ever’, Game of Thrones returned to its place at the top of the game as this year’s nominations were announced yesterday.

Game of Thrones as being the biggest thing on earth, the authenticity of new show, Chernobyl and hit comedy series, Barry, helped HBO rise back to the peak with 137 nominations, ahead of its closest rival, Netflix that landed 117 noms (which betters last year’s record 112 for the online service).

Netflix has true-life heart gushing mini series, When They See Us, under the radar, Russian Doll and documentary, Our Planet to thank for its increase from last year’s nominations.

Outside the two main networks leading the pack, we see NBC, Amazon Prime Video, CBS, FX Networks, ABC and Hulu follow each other closely behind all garnering below 100 nominations each.

Moving away from the networks and visiting the shows as single bodies, these are the TV programs that garnered 10 nominations and more: Game Of Thrones, The Marvelous Mrs. Masiel, Chernobyl, Saturday Night Live, Barry, Fosse/Verdon, When They See Us, Russian Doll, Escape At Dannemora, Fleabag, The Handmaid’s Tale Showtime, Our Planet.

The highest nominated talk show is Last Week Tonight With John Oliver and highest nominated reality TV program is RuPaul’s Drag Race.
