Pick of This Week’s Trailers: Upcoming Movies You Might Want to See

bg

As the summer movie season is drawing closer, we were treated to a series of new trailers this past week. And here is my pick out of the bunch released, official synopsis and reason why I would ask you to add it to your calendar. Cos I personally, definitely won’t see all when they get released. But these are the few that fascinate me.

Bumblebee

“On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee the Autobot seeks refuge in a junkyard in a small California beach town. Charlie, on the brink of turning 18 years old and trying to find her place in the world, soon discovers the battle-scarred and broken Bumblebee. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns that this is no ordinary yellow Volkswagen.”

bb_online_dom_vertical_teaser_sunsetAdd it to your calendar cos it’s a Transformer movie. A prequel featuring our favourite autobot, John Cena and Hailee Steinfeld should be one to spice up your December.

Bad Times at the El Royale

“Seven strangers, each with a secret to bury, meet at a run-down hotel in Lake Tahoe in 1960s California. Over the course of a fateful night, they all get one last shot at redemption before everything goes wrong.”

A Chris Hemsworth flick with him not being the god of thunder is something to get us excited. A storyline that sounds like a battle royale game, bets on the movie featuring a Fortnite dance or easter egg of some kind?

First Man

“A look at the life of the astronaut, Neil Armstrong, and the legendary space mission that led him to become the first man to walk on the Moon on July 20, 1969.”

This is a biopic I won’t be watching in the cinema. Probably sometime next year during awards season. Chazelle’s first work since La La Land. This time we watch Ryan Gosling la la land on the moon.

How to Train Your Dragon 3: The Hidden World

“As Hiccup fulfills his dream of creating a peaceful dragon utopia, Toothless’ discovery of an untamed, elusive mate draws the Night Fury away.  When danger mounts at home and Hiccup’s reign as village chief is tested, both dragon and rider must make impossible decisions to save their kind.”

As this serves as one of Dramwork’s most successful franchise, I am looking forward to how they take and end things here. The end of a movie franchise, serves as the beginning of a new one which also gets me excited for what is coming next from Dreamworks.

Lego Movie 2: The Second Part

“The citizens of Bricksburg face a dangerous new threat when LEGO DUPLO invaders from outer space start to wreck everything. It’s now up to Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to defeat the giant marauders and restore harmony to the LEGO universe.”

Ok. I thought Deadpool 2 was going to win laziest title of 2018. But this has just proved me wrong. ‘The Second Part’ in the title has got me excited.

Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse

“Spider-Man mentors a teenager from Brooklyn, N.Y., to become the next web-slinging superhero.”

I don’t know if there is a technical term or something. But the colours and tone just got me excited to see this movie. With my boy Brian Tyree Henry(Paperboi from Atlanta) and Hailee Steinfeld(my crush) doing voiceover duties in this, it is definitely a must watch.

The Girl in The Spider’s Web

“Journalist Mikael Blomkvist and hacker Lisbeth Salander encounter a web of spies, cybercriminals and government corruption.”

I love movies with ladies seeking vengeance and balance in this world. I could be wrong though, but that’s what I could decipher from the trailer I watched. In case you have read the book, don’t hesitate to tell me about it in the comment section below. It also features Darius(Lakeith Steinfeld) from Atlanta. MY NIGGAAA!!!

White Boy Rick

“In 1980s Detroit, Ricky Wershe Jr. was a street hustler, FBI informant and drug kingpin -all before he turned 16. Based on the true story.”

It features a newcomer with a face I seem to like and the story itself is all badass esque. A street hustler, FBI informant and drug kingpin, all before he turned 16? I WANT TO SEE THAT.

Widows

“In debt because of their dead husbands’ criminal activities, four women take fate into their own hands and conspire to build a future on their own terms.”

If you’ve been reading all along, one major thing that gets me excited to see movies is the composition of the cast. I would really love to see Viola Davis and Michelle Rodriguez star in the same movie. You all called for strong women, Hollywood is feeding us. And did I say it features Daniel Kaluuya and Paperboi (Atlanta) again? FEED ME WIDOWS!!! (the movie I mean, and not a dish of women mourning)

Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2

“Ralph and Vanellope embark on an adventure inside the internet to find a spare part to fix a video game.”

wir2_poster2

You need to see it cos it serves a sequel to the first part you enjoyed a while while back. Ralph wrecks the internet? NO! RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET!

Movies currently in cinema that I would recommend are: Ocean’s 8, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and box office surprise Hereditary.

Which of the movies from the above trailers are you looking forward to seeing the most? Over half being animated shouldn’t stop you from seeing them, cos we have been waiting for quite a while. Did I miss another trailer that was released this week which you loved? Hit me up in the comments section wkMu friends.

Release dates not added as text cos it is mentioned at the end of each trailer when you watch it. So Enjoy!

Bis Bald!
