Inkblot’s ‘When Love Strikes’ Kicks Off This September, Starring Osas Ighodaro and Natse Jemide

Inkblot Productions is reportedly gearing up to release When Love Strikes, a heartwarming football-themed movie set to hit cinemas this September. The film features a star-studded cast led by AMVCA-winning actor Osas Ighodaro and rising talent Natse Jemide, best known for his role in the Netflix hit series Far From Home.

Sources close to the production reveal that the movie offers a unique and intimate glimpse into the personal and professional challenges footballers and their families face, whilst also celebrating the spectacle of the fast-paced world of Nigerian football. When Love Strikes follows the journey of a young footballer named IBK, showcasing his triumphs, setbacks, and the complex relationships that shape his life as he strives to reach the pinnacle of his career.

The film is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Adeoluwa Owu (Captain Degzy), the co-director of the record-breaking A Tribe Called Judah and boasts a heavy-weight production crew, including Breath of Life actor & producer Eku Edewor as film producer alongside Inkblot co-founders Chinaza Onuzo, Zulumoke Oyibo and Damola Ademola, who also serve as Executive Producers.

The ensemble cast includes Bimbo Akintola, Zubby Michael, Sunshine Rosman, Jimmie Akinsola, Vine Olugu, Chuks Joseph, Taye Arimoro, and Suo Chapele.

Reached for comment, Inkblot’s Damola Ademola stated, “When Love Strikes is a film that explores the universal appeal of football and the true meaning of ‘the beautiful game’ through the eyes of a gifted young player.” 

“This is a story that is very close to my heart and it was important that we were able to celebrate football and what it means to the Nigerian audience, whilst telling a story full of heart. We are so pleased with the work done by Degzy and the entire cast and crew and we are confident that this film will resonate deeply with audiences of all ages, everywhere.” Ademola added. 

When Love Strikes was co-written by Chinaza Onuzo and Joy Bewaji, the acclaimed screenwriter of A Weekend To Forget, from a story by Damola Ademola, Eku Edewor and Bewaji herself.

When Love Strikes will be in cinemas across Nigeria from September 13, 2024.
