The Almajiri
Natives Filmworks closes the first chapter of its First Features Project with The Almajiri, the tenth and final film in the initiative created to support emerging Nigerian filmmakers. The Almajiri follows a young boy whose determination to build a better life is tested by the harsh realities surrounding him. Produced by Native Filmworks and MichelAngelo Production, with Jammal Ibrahim directing, the film stars Yakubu Mohammad, Musa Muhammad, Jamila Ibrahim, Ijapari Ben-Hirki, Ahmad Isa and Sani Mu’azu. Premieres on Prime Video.
Zikoko Life 2: Before We Fall Asleep
A couple’s relationship begins to crack as changing circumstances cause problems between them. Kaelo Iyizoba, making his Zikoko Life debut, directs the relationship drama from a screenplay by Blessing Uzzi, starring Tobi Bakre, Onyinye Odokoro and Rita Edochie, and is part of Zikoko Life’s second anthology from Big Cabal Media and Bluhouse Studios.

Colours of Fire
Niyi Akinmolayan directs the fantasy epic in a land ruled by ancient traditions and powerful kingdoms where a warrior’s mission to protect his people leads him to a secret that could change the fate of two rival clans forever. Starring Uzor Arukwe, Osas Ighodaro, Gabriel Afolayan, Mercy Aigbe, Ibrahim Chatta and Femi Branch, it was released in cinemas in December 2025 and is now set to stream on Netflix in Africa and internationally on Kava.

Zikoko Life 2: A Happy Ending
Dika Ofoma’s A Happy Ending, his second contribution to Zikoko Life following Something Sweet, follows a young woman who moves to Lagos in search of a better life, only to discover that the opportunities she finds come with complicated relationships, difficult choices and unexpected emotional consequences. Produced by Bluhouse Studios, the last in the second edition of Zikoko Life stars Ifeoma Obinwa, Ruby Okezie and Anne Njemanze.
August 14
Sweet 16
A spoiled rich brat must use her sassiness to bring redemption to her village after she is tricked into spending her summer holidays there. Her punishment soon becomes a journey of self-discovery, community and unexpected responsibility. Willis Ikedum directs the musical drama, which features Kalu Ikeagwu, Uche Jombo, Alexx Ekubo, Mercy Aigbe, Denrele Edun, Eronini Osinachi, Chief Imo, Ikechukwu Onunaku and Emeka Nwagbaraocha among its ensemble cast. Sweet 16 will be released in cinemas nationwide.

A Father’s Secret
Adeoluwa Owu directs his second August theatrical release, A Father’s Secret, a story about a woman who has fought her way through heartbreak and hardship, only to find her life turned upside down when her father returns, forcing her to confront secrets that could change everything she believes about family and love. Produced by Switch Visuals Production, A Father’s Secret stars Timini Egbuson, Olukemi Gold Aluko, Bryan Boomba, Fae Olumide and Princess Demodel.
Abujaa
Starring Muyiwa Ademola, Sola Sobowale, Tina Mba, a kingdom faces an uncertain future when questions about the throne begin to divide the royal family. As prophecy, loyalty and ambition shape the battle for power, those closest to the palace must decide what they are willing to sacrifice to protect their people and their legacy.
Adebayo Tijani and Allwell Ademola are directing the epic for Made’s Film Production, with Tina Mba and Jimoh Medina credited as executive producers. More cast members include Omowunmi Dada, Eniola Ajao, Rotimi Salami, Adebayo Salami, Fathia Balogun, Ibrahim Chatta, Jide Kosoko and Yinka Quadri. Watch it in cinemas.
Alahun: The Weaver
Directed by Dare Olaitan in his second directing role since Ile Owo, Alahun: The Weaver follows a young man mocked for his love for weaving baskets and plaiting hair by a society that believes such crafts are not for men. Refusing to abandon who he is, he is drawn into a mystical journey that could determine the fate of his kingdom. Produced by Kayode Kasum, the fantasy adventure has Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Chatta, Lateef Adedimeji, Moshood Fattah, Kunle Remi, Omowunmi Dada, Faithia Williams, Ronke Oshodi Oke as cast members. With distribution by FilmOne, Alahun: The Weaver is set for theatrical release.
Ikenga
Ancient power and modern ambition clash in this Igbo epic thriller centred on the sacred symbol of Ikenga, traditionally associated with strength, achievement and destiny. The story, directed by Darlington Ogbodo, follows characters whose pursuit of power draws them into a dangerous spiritual conflict with far-reaching consequences. Officially announced cast includes Zubby Michael, Jide Kene Achufusi, Pete Edochie, Nkem Owoh, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Patience Ozokwor, Beverly Osu, Regina Daniels and Destiny Etiko.
