Streaming movies have become more popular than going to the cinema, and this was worsened by the effects of the pandemic on cinema as a whole. With over a hundred movie streaming services today, only a few are available to Nigerians without using VPN. While we still have some others in the country, here are a few notable ones:

Netflix is the biggest movie streaming service in the world with over 209 million subscribers in 190 countries. With an ever-growing library, you can be sure to find titles from around the world. Netflix boasts original and licensed titles from Hollywood (Crown, Stranger Things, Rick & Morty, The Office), European cinema (French: Lupin, German: DARK, Spanish: Money Heist, British: The Bodyguard ), and Bollywood (Delhi Crime, The White Tiger, Ghoul). Prime Video Subscription Price in Nigeria

Although with fewers titles than Netflix, Amazon Prime still boasts titles that are critically-acclaimed and worth your time. With the likes of The Boys, Marvelous Mrs Maisel, Invincible, you are sure to find a suitable category for your taste. The 2021 Eddie Murphy-led comedy sequel, Coming 2 America, can also be found on the service. 

Pricing: Amazon Prime Video has a single tier that costs 2,300 naira monthly. Free trial is available.

YouTube Premium in Nigeria

Starting out as a service that allows people to upload user-generated videos, YouTube branched out to offer exciting scripted titles like Cobra Kai (which Netflix now owns) and Step Up: High Water, before entirely leaving the scripted scene for the unscripted world of unlimited entertainment. You can enjoy their content by subscribing to YouTube Premium.

Pricing: 1,700 Naira monthly. With this subscription, you can enjoy YouTube and YouTube Music ad-free. A 1-month free trial is available and you can cancel your subscription anytime. And this can be enjoyed on all devices. The family plan now costs 2,800 Naira monthly, a 64% increase from its previous price.

Circuits Price in Nigeria

Circuits is a Nigerian-born virtual cinema platform that brings African films directly to audiences around the world. Launched globally in December 2024, it offers a curated selection of Nollywood titles, documentaries, and festival favourites—all available without a subscription. Instead of paying monthly, users simply rent individual films on a pay-per-view basis, with prices ranging from $2 to $4.99 per title. Each film is available for a 12-week viewing window, allowing viewers to watch on their own schedule. Circuits is accessible on the web, mobile apps (iOS and Android), and smart TVs, including Samsung, Hisense, and Apple TV. The platform supports secure playback, multiple languages (currently English and French), and syncs across devices.
