Ceero World has unveiled the first teaser (see below) for its debut original series, The Anomalous, a daring, darkly comedic exploration of mental health and relationships set against the chaotic backdrop of Lagos.

Starring Keira Hewatch (Fifty) and Michael Uchegbu (RattleSnake: The Ahanna Story) as married psychotherapists with problems of their own, the limited series blends sharp wit with surreal storytelling to unpack what it means to care for others while quietly falling apart. The series also features guest appearances from Nollywood veterans Clem Ohameze and Ronnie Dikko, adding dramatic gravitas to an already impressive cast.
Directed by Chinedu Omorie (SilverTown) and co-created by Richard Odilu and Chuk Otakpor, The Anomalous has been five years in the making and marks a bold shift in narrative tone and style for Nigerian television. “In a world that demands silence, The Anomalous dares to listen,” reads the official logline — a fitting prelude to a series that promises to be as emotionally stirring as it is psychologically unpredictable.
The plot centres on The Kelennas, a therapist couple whose clinic receives clients with issues ranging from deeply personal to the wildly bizarre. But even as they help others, the Kelennas’ marriage, business, and mental health are slowly unraveling, making The Anomalous not just a show about therapy, but a mirror to the therapists themselves.
“Mental health is not a Western conversation — it’s a human one,” says co-creator Otakpor. “In Africa, we’ve long worn silence like armour. But silence can wound deeper than words.”
Odilu adds, “We grew up in a culture where vulnerability was weakness, and strength was endurance at any cost. The Anomalous is our rebellion — a reminder that healing begins when we speak up.”
The four-part limited series also boasts a rich ensemble cast including Ifeanyi Kalu, Felix Omokhodion, Azeezat Sadiq, Frankincense Eche-Ben, Lucy Ameh, Bryan Okoye, Stephen Damian, Dan Ugoji, Genny Uzoma, Roxy Antak, Emmanuel Ilemobayo, Peace Oni, Etta JoMaria, Kojo Boakye, among others. It is co-written by Odilu, Otakpor, Tunray Femi (For Maria Ebun Pataki), and Jesurobo-Owie Gift Imafidon (A Place of Happiness), hinting at an emotionally intelligent script with layers of cultural nuance.
“The real excitement comes from the dynamic our lead actors bring to their performances,” says director Omorie. “They’re helping others while hiding their own struggles — and that tension drives the entire show.”
Produced by Ceero World Productions, The Anomalous is more than a TV show — it’s a timely cultural moment. Known for championing bold African stories with global resonance, Ceero World’s entry into series production signals a welcome evolution in Nigerian storytelling.
With its teaser now live and premiere expected later this year, The Anomalous looks set to challenge taboos, stir conversations, and — in its own wonderfully absurd way — offer a little healing along the way.
