One reckless decision pulls him into blackmail and shakes the trust of his wife, Damilola (Mercy Aigbe). When Annie turns up dead, suspicion falls squarely on Raymond. Every clue seems to point his way, but the truth behind her death is far from simple. The Mercy Aigbe-produced film, which premiered in cinemas in December 2024, is directed by Akay Mason and stars Olu “Deno” Adebamowo and Motilola Akinlami. Men’s Code tells a story of love, betrayal and survival in modern relationships. Nini: A Tale of Betrayal and Triumph

A young woman breaks a sacred vow and sets off a storm of betrayal and family conflict in Nini: A Tale of Betrayal and Triumph. Written and directed by Dr. Sam Idiagbonya for Fedmas Studios, the drama stars Patricia Oguso in the lead role with Keppy Ekpenyong, Jide Kosoko, Francis Duru, Yemi Blaq, Tina Mba, Chimezie Imo, and Mariah Ogbashi. The movie premiered on September 28 at Silverbird Cinemas in Abuja and is set to hit cinemas nationwide.

Almost Perfect

Almost Perfect, directed by Imoh Umoren, captures the journey of a young woman leaving her small hometown for Lagos to chase her dreams in fashion. The cast features Detola Jones, Kate Henshaw, Toke Makinwa, Bimbo Manuel, Omowunmi Dada, Eso Dike, Real Warri Pikin, Liquorose, Obinwa Okenwa and Nonso Odogwu. Premieres in cinemas.

Farmer’s Bride

Set in 1980s Ibadan, the story begins when Odun (played by Femi Branch) marries Funmi (Gbubemi Ejeye), a young woman chosen by her mother without her consent. As time passes, Odun’s nephew, Femi (Tobi Bakre), returns from the city. Funmi’s loneliness and despair draw her close to him. Their secret affair brings danger, betrayal, and a choice that might cost lives. Among the cast are Mercy Aigbe, Wumi Toriola, and Efe Irele in supporting roles. Directed by Adebayo Tijani and Jack’enneth Opukeme, the film premiered in Nigerian cinemas on September 27, 2024 and will be available to stream on Netflix. 

Kandasamys: The Wedding

Jennifer Kandasamy and Shanti Naidoo have long competed over every detail of life in the neighbourhood, and when their children, Jodi and Prishen, decide to wed, the mothers’ clashing demands launch wedding preparations into chaos. Directed by Jayan Moodley and written with Rory Booth, the South African film serves as the sequel to the 2017 Keeping Up with the Kandasamys. Showing on Showmax. 

Osamede 

Set in 1897 during the British invasion of the Benin Kingdom, the Edo epic follows Osamede, an orphan girl, who discovers she has supernatural powers linked to the Aruosa stone, a sacred relic in Benin lore. She becomes the only one who can stand against the invaders. 

Directed by James Omokwe and produced by Lilian Olubi, the cast includes Ivie Okujaye Egboh as Osamede, Lexan Aisosa Peters, William Benson, Tosin Adeyemi, Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen, Alexander Bud. Osamede is scheduled for nationwide cinema release. 

The Exco

The Exco is a political drama about an idealistic new leader who steps into government and faces backroom deals, betrayal and pressure to compromise. The political drama features Femi Branch, Jide Kosoko, Deyemi Okanlawon, Scarlet Gomez, Ronke Oshodi Oke, Lizzy Jay, and Olarotimi Fakunle. In cinemas nationwide.

The Herd

A wedding day spirals into chaos in The Herd, a crime-thriller directed by Daniel Etim Effiong. A celebration of love and family soon unravels into betrayal, secrets, and a fight for survival. Starring Genoveva Umeh, Kunle Remi, Tina Mba, Deyemi Okanlawon, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, and Norbert Young, the film marks Effiong’s directorial debut. The Herd will be available to watch in cinemas.

Finding Optel

16-year-old Claire Abrahams (Mikayla Joy Brown) runs a lost-and-found service in her Cape Town neighbourhood. When the community dog, Optel, goes missing, Claire embarks on a quest to find him. Her search unexpectedly leads her to uncover clues about her older brother’s disappearance, forcing her to confront unresolved grief.

The South African film is co-directed by Mikayla and her brother Jesse Brown, who also contributed to the screenplay. Zenobia Kloppers plays Aunty Doreen, Claire’s mother figure, while Oscar Petersen portrays Claire’s father, John Abrahams. More cast members include Rodney Goliath, Hein de Vries, Maurice Carpede, Euodia Samson and Liande Valentyn. Finding Optel had its international premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on October 18, 2025, and is set to stream on Showmax.

Idia

IDIA, a new thriller from Golden Minutes Pictures, draws its horror from Edo mythology and everyday fears. Mercy Aigbe, Linda Osifo, Gbubemi Ejeye, Tope Tedela and Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen bring life to characters caught between faith, family and the unknown. Directed by Ese Ariremu and Jide “Jblaze” Oyegbile, the story folds in music, folklore and native language to show how death, mental health and belief can clash. The film will premiere in cinemas nationwide.

Tare

Directed by Okechukwu Oku and Stanley Obi, Tare follows a family shattered by betrayal and abandonment. With performances from Toyin Abraham, Jide Kene Achufusi, Nosa Rex, and Ibinabo Fiberesima, Tare opens in cinemas nationwide.

Son of the Soil

Zion Ladejo, a former Special Ops soldier, returns home after his sister’s death sets him on a collision course with a ruthless cartel and corrupt power. His mission is to seek justice, find redemption, and face the ghosts he tried to leave behind. Etiti: The World Between Worlds follows Jidenna, a hunter whose life changes on his wedding day when he is pulled into a strange place between life and death. No Country for Old Men

Steve stars Cillian Murphy as the weary headteacher of a struggling reform school in 1990s England. The series stars Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Madeleine Stowe, and Rudy Mancuso, with Bill Skarsgård returning as Pennywise the Clown. The first season runs for nine episodes and will stream on Showmax.
