After the year 2021 with studio releases like Day Of Destiny (DOD), Prophetess, and Progressive Tailors Club receiving positive audience reaction despite average critical feedback, and 2022’s Chief Daddy 2 suffering a backlash from the same Nigerian audience, Nigerian filmmaker Niyi Akinmolayan began 2022 on a great start with his production company Anthill Studios sealing a licensing deal with Amazon Prime Video. This deal would see the production company’s movies land on the streamer after their theatrical run. At the same time, we are also welcoming news on a new film written and set to be directed by Niyi Akinmolayan (Chief Daddy 2).

With a release of the production teaser on social platforms and exclusively on ShockNG, revealing the title of the film as The Man For the Job, the crime drama is set to follow the adventure of a hardworking and vibrant young man navigating his family and work life which is soon furled up by the plot of an overtly optimistic startup CEO.

According to the report, “the story is set up in modern Lagos where the fintech era is blooming.” This places the location of the production in Lagos State, which social media posts by the filmmaker also confirm. Viewers can enjoy stills from a scene being shot in the Eko Hotel conference hall and a call for extras for the proposed scene.

With the cast announcement made so far, the film will star Temi Otedola (The Citation) in her second outing, Alibaba (Gold Statue), Ini Edo (The Citation), Ibrahim Suleiman (TMC), Uzor Arukwe (Prophetess), and Babarex.
Akinmolayan’s The Man For the Job is set to be Akinmolayan’s first film since the Anthill-Amazon Prime Video licensing deal was announced.

Prime Video will become the exclusive global streaming home for Anthill’s film slate after they have completed their domestic theatrical runs. Not to worry, this means the film would first be available in cinemas upon its release and global fans get to enjoy it shortly after.
