Fast Rising Nollywood Actress Sharon Rotimi Announces One-Woman Show Inspired By the Stories of Women in the Bible

Sharon Rotimi, one of Nollywood’s fast-rising actors, is set to release a series of monologues in a solo performance, titled All The Women in Me.

The series is inspired by God and the biblical anecdotes of various women found in the Bible. Rotimi hopes to push her creative ingenuity by presenting an act that goes beyond the replication of these women’s stories.

All The Women in Me is written by Nneoma Edeh in an adaptation that fits these women’s stories into the cultural context of Nigerians by using modern-day parlance.

The inspiration for the series stems from Rotimi’s intrigue with the stories of certain Biblical female characters who have been receded into footnotes. “For a majority of these women, their lives or stories weren’t exactly the central story; they were just people who were mentioned or briefly touched on concerning the men in their lives. However, their actions or stories held such significance and led to important events in Bible history,” reveals the actress in a statement.

She adds, “At the end of the day, the goal is to present these women not as heroes or villains but as humans. This is super important to me because it is part of my philosophy — a desire that everyone see and recognizes the equal humanity of the sexes. Another intent of All The Women in Me is to explore my range as an actor, and push myself to go to places I’m often timid to go.”

Sharon Rotimi is known for her roles in TV shows like The Wives and Chronicles, for which she has been praised for her subtle and layered performances by fans. She will also star in The Artifact, an adventure film directed by Tolu Lordtanner Awobiyi.

All The Women in Me is a 5-part series that will be released weekly, with the first episode now available on Instagram.
