‘Spider-Man’ Trilogy and Disney Classics to Screen Again at Filmhouse Cinemas in Nigeria

Filmhouse Cinemas has announced a slate of classic titles returning to the big screen across August and October.

As mostly a home-video-first audience, many of us first experienced these films at home. But nothing compares to seeing them on the big screen. Some of these titles we never even had proper access to at home and this is a rare chance to catch them in the cinema.

The line-up includes Disney favourites Aladdin (Aug. 29) Mulan (Sept. 19) and The Lion King (Sept. 12), Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy (Sept. TBD), and Nollywood box office hit The Wedding Party (Oct. TBD). Tickets are priced at ₦5,000 and screenings will take place exclusively at Filmhouse locations.

Re-releases of older titles are common in international markets, where restored versions and anniversary screenings often draw strong audiences. While it is unconfirmed whether this is Filmhouse’s first such initiative, it highlights an effort to diversify cinema offerings in Nigeria. 

Demand will be key in determining whether more classics or even older titles are brought back in future.

But beyond these classics, cinephiles also have the chance to support recent Nigerian and African films. If we want more diverse titles in cinemas—and for them to stay longer—we have to show up. Because once they leave, you never know when next you’ll get the chance to see them on the big screen. They include:
