EXCLUSIVE: ‘Freedom Way’ Cast Announcement: Meg Otanwa, Mr Macaroni, Timini Egbuson, Bimbo Akintola and Bucci Franklin to Star in Olalekan Afolabi’s Directorial Debut 

EXCLUSIVE: Debo Adedayo (Mr Macaroni), Timini Egbuson, Bucci Franklin, Hungani Ndlovu, Meg Otanwa, Taye Arimoro, Sophie Alakija, Jide Kosoko, Bimbo Akintola and Femi Jacobs are set to star in Freedom Way, the directorial feature debut of Olalekan Afolabi, with Blessing Uzzi serving as producer on the film that is currently in production.

Written by Blessing Uzzi, three young co-founders struggle to keep their startup alive despite sabotage by a powerful competitor, a bike man finds himself making hard choices when his means of livelihood is lost and he still needs to provide for his family, a doctor struggles with his conscience on the job while trying to connect with the father of his beautiful wife and a police couple find themselves on different sides of the law with a choice that has to be made.

In what promises to be a riveting drama, Debo Adedayo (Perfect Arrangement) aka Mr Macaroni will play Abiola, Egbuson (Breaded Life) features as Tayo, Bucci Franklin (The Razz Guy) as Edi and South African Actor, Hungani Ndlovu as Themba. They are joined by Meg Otanwa (For Maria Ebun Pataki) who stars as Funke, Taye Arimoro (Ile Owo) as Doctor Cheta and Sophie Alakija (My Village People) as Temi.

The drama will also star veterans Jide Kosoko (King of Boys) as Chief Adewale, Bimbo Akintola (93 Days) as Officer Kudirat and Femi Jacobs (La Femme Anjola) as Officer Ajayi, with South Africa’s Kabelo Thathe (Rise) taking the seat of the director of photography.

As an engaging drama, Freedom Way will mirror the real-life effects of public policies on the lives of the common man in an emotional rollercoaster guided by the star-studded cast.

Director Olalekan Afolabi has previously directed two short films Caught Up (2019) and Without You (2021). Blessing Uzzi who is serving as the producer is known for her yet-to-be-released film No Man’s Land starring Seun Kuti, Sola Sobowale, Omowunmi Dada and Femi Branch.

Freedom Way is currently in production and remains without a release date.
