In the just-released trailer for Brotherhood, GreoH Studios’ long-awaited first cinema release of the year, Tobi Bakre (The Blood Covenant) and Falz (Chief Daddy 2) star on opposite sides of the law. The crime-action thriller promises to be an emotionally-grounded story exploring familiar themes like the bonds of family, betrayal, and love. “I came from the exact same street. I chose to be a better man,” declares Falz.
GreoH Studios Releases Official Character Posters for ‘Brotherhood’, Sets September 23 Release
The trailer opens with a SWAT vehicle heading towards what could be to stop an armed robbery mission. We are introduced to the worlds of the twin brothers where both sides lay down tactical plans. On Falz’s side, we meet Sam Dede (Gone), Dorathy Bachor, Omawunmi, Dianne Russet (Ricordi), Jide Kene Achufusi (Dwindle). On Bakre’s villainy side, we meet Basketmouth (Papa Benji), OC Ukeje (The Arbitration), Toni Tones (KOB 2), and Zubby Michael (Omo Ghetto: The Saga). The rest of the cast is made up of Ronke Oshodi-Oke (Prophetess), Deyemi Okanlawon (Blood Sisters), Mercy Aigbe (Swallow), Seyi Awolowo (The Order of Things), Boma Akpofure and Mr Macaroni (The Perfect Arrangement).
Directed by Uganda’s Loukman Ali (The Girl in the Yellow Jumper) and produced by Jade Osiberu (Ayinla), uniting a pan-African crew for this adrenalin-fuelled film, Brotherhood follows twin brothers, Akin (Falz) and Wale (Tobi Bakre) who are orphaned when their parents are killed on New Year’s day on their way home from cross-over church service. After years of fighting to survive on the streets of Lagos, the brothers fall on opposite sides of the law with Akin joining the police force and Wale joining a notorious gang of robbers. The bonds of brotherhood are put to the ultimate test as Akin joins a Taskforce that hunts down Wale and his gang.
Co-written by Abdul Tijani-Ahmed (Ricordi) and Jade Osiberu (Sugar Rush), Brotherhood wrapped up shooting in mid-May and is currently in post production.
The premiere of Brotherhood later this year promises to be a large-scale event that has never been seen before in the industry, which would be held at key locations across the country, leveraging on the stellar cast to deliver an exciting experience across locations.
GreoH Studios is behind critically-acclaimed films like Ayinla and Isoken and the commercially successful Sugar Rush. Another anticipated project from GreoH is an action caper Gangs of Lagos directed by Jade Osiberu, starring Tobi Bakre, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, and Chike.
Brotherhood, set to be distributed by Genesis Pictures, will premiere in cinemas on September 23, 2022.
